Defines and provides the strategic technology vision for the API Governance in Black Knight’s Servicing Technologies division as well as delivers and communicates the vision internally an
d externally. Defines the overall API strategy, and drives the execution of the roadmap for Mortgage Servicing. This is a highly visible role reporting to the Chief Technology Officer of Servicing Technologies and requires outstanding leadership, communication, executive presence, technical, analytical, and desired mortgage domain skills.

We are looking for an API evangelist and a champion who can provide the hands-on leadership to a large team of architects, product managers and matrixed agile teams for the digital acceleration initiatives using API First approach to value delivery.


    • Defines the overall API strategic direction of Mortgage Servicing Technologies division
    • Defines the API guidelines (design, style, security, patterns, scale, performance etc.), API Domain Design guidelines, enterprise standards for API integration, API catalog, API productization and monetization approach.
    • Creates a sustainable API framework, bringing existing legacy services into that framework and lead introduction of new APIs.
    • Chairs the API governance across the division and assesses the API and Microservice governance solutions and integrate them with the existing technology stack.
    • Provides technical and strategic leadership to the API Community of Practice (CoP) and matrixed agile teams
    • Partners with product, engineering, implementations, client support and sales teams to deliver APIs that meets the needs of our business as we look to evolve our current point
      to point service interfaces to scalable APIs offered across multiple channels.
    • Partners with the enterprise infrastructure teams to direct the delivery and readiness of API platforms. Works with the shared services team to provide the self-service API Gateway and API Developer Portal platforms.
    • Maintains knowledge of emerging API technological trends and utilizes this knowledge to educate both IT and the business on opportunities to build better technology solutions that support and drive business decisions. Research new Cloud Native technologies including Microservices and Service Mesh.
    • Collaborates with product and enterprise platform teams to enable effective use of the APIs in the cloud native, DevOps enabled environment.
    • Works closely with application solution architects to maintain and ensure best practice paradigms and provide solution recommendations as appropriate.
    • Participates and works with enterprise-wide technical committee
      s to influence product and technology direction, build consensus and architectural decisions.
    • Enforces organizational standards and guidelines for enhanced cross domain governance.
    • Documents the existing legacy services, define, transform and enforce REST API best practices.
    • Partners closely with product and engineering teams to craft great digital experiences.
    • Assesses and determines governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing APIs across the enterprise.
    • Assesses the existing API capabilities and actively participate in reviews to attain the highest quality service standards.
    • Develops and maintains strong working relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders across divisions to maximize program effectiveness and influence.
    • Drives innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
    • Serves as a consultant and advisor to senior IT and executive leadership on API Strategy and Govern
      ance and evaluates the business impact through cost/benefit analysis.
    • Transfers knowledge of key learnings throughout the enterprise, and establishes and communicates strategic and technological plans.
    • Reviews and escalates identified architectural risks and interdependencies to applications and products in project implementations and design proposals.
    • Leads the definition of future architecture initiatives for application and deployment systems, and defines the migration path from current to future application architecture.
    • May travel up to 10%.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.


    • 10+ years in IT, preferably work
      ing in the software domain
    • 3+ years as an API Architect, Product Manager, Development Manager or similar role primarily focused on diverse API management platforms
    • Hands-on experience with architecting or developing API based solutions using API Management platforms such as Apigee or similar
    • Experience in Financial Services or Consumer Lending or Mortgage industry or specifically Mortgage Servicing highly desired
    • Strong experience with Web Services, Microservices and Asynchronous messaging highly desired
    • Knowledge of object-oriented design and design patterns, and programming skills
    • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in API management platforms and Portals and knowledge about API design standards, patterns and best practices
    • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing API Governance (prior experience with tools like Service Ignite a plus) highly desired
    • Experience with SOAP services, REST API, i
      ntegration technologies like API Management and ESB highly desired
    • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in API security standards and implementation (oAuth, OpenID Connect) highly desired
    • Expert-level knowledge and experience applying current and emerging technology integration solutions and trends
    • Experience in Java/JEE, .NET, API management platforms (Apigee), Micro services, Open API, AWS services a plus
    • Experience with content management technologies such as Drupal a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences; excellent ability to clearly articulate strategic benefits and value propositions to executives/senior management and team members at all levels of the organization both internally and externally through presentations and other forms of communication
    • Experience with matrix organizations desired consisting of cross-functional processes and teams and experience in
      driving large-scale change efforts
    • Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources
    • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills
    • Ability to quickly adjust message based on different audiences and agendas
    • Ability to go in depth on the technology stack, across different technologies to understand the end to end integration hooks and system interfaces desired
    • Proven ability to interact well with all levels of the enterprise and demonstrated skills to influence without authority and stakeholder management
    • Ability to mentor others and lead others through effective and efficient problem solving

Technology Strategy Manager Senior

Middle level management role. Typically responsible for leading the technology strategy for one or more divisions or a business segment. Resolves issues and contributes to division/segm
ent development. May directly manage a staff of up to seven (7) direct reports, including managers, supervisors and individual contributors. Works closely with directors and/or executives on departmental issues. Has very wide latitude for decision-making. Typically requires more than seven (7) years of broad and progressively more responsible information technology experience with at least five (5) years of experience managing large, strategic technology projects.
