Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking a qualified Adjunct Professor to instruct in the Human Resources Management Program. Adjunct Professor positions require a minimum of two years’ related professional human resource experience. College instructing experience and industry certifications are preferred. Candidate must be available to instruct in a hybrid model in the designated quarter and times of class based on the program schedule. Expertise in current best practices related to human resources and business is required. Experience is needed in training, development, and performance management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Instruct Human Resources Management courses

• Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goals

• Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments

• Develop and instruct to the objectives of the approved curriculum

• Develop and instruct lessons which foster and support cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion

• Develop classroom and online procedures in conformance with identified policies and procedures

• Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements

• Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students

• Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning

• Maintain contact with industry and HR associations for job placement and follow-up opportunities

• Be familiar with and advance the college’s mission, vision, and goals

• Follow college, local, state and federal policies and procedures

• Work with the college LWTech SHRM Student Chapter advisor and work with SHRM, NHRMA, LWTech ASG, and other related HR associations

• Attended continual education to maintain current on best practices and updates in human resources

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of studies such as Human Resources, Business, Education, or related degree required

• Master’s degree in related field of studies such as Human Resources, Business, Education, or related degree preferred

• 2+ years of related professional human resource experience required

• 1O+ years of related professional human resource experience preferred

• Previous teaching and training experience required

• College instruction experience preferred

• Previous experience with hybrid instruction (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Sakai, Moodie) preferred

• Professional certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred

• Professional senior certification (SPHR or SHRM-SCP) preferred

• Other related discipline certifications (GPHR, CCP, CBP, CEB) preferred

• An active professional member of SHRM

• Knowledge of current human resources best practices including strategic and tactical human resource practices and skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations

• Experience is needed in training, development, and performance management

Compensation & BenefitsPlacement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience.

Once part-time faculty have worked 50% full-time or more for two consecutive quarters(with LWTech or combined with other community/technical colleges), Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability and other insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board, State Retirement Plan and a Deferred Compensation Plan; sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) effective upon employment.
