Accounting Specialist
Part-Time, Non-Exempt

This position works approximately 20 hours per week onsite

The Role

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for processing accounts receivable and expense reimbursements. The candidate will be required to ensure the department is running efficiently and smoothly. This is a part time, non-exempt (hourly) position that works approximately 20 hours per week.

The Tech requires candidates to pass a background screening and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination as conditions of employment.


Key Daily Responsibilities:

  • Open mail
  • Sort and file mailed paper invoices after scanning
  • Scan invoices and email to Concur AP email address
  • Email deposits to development team
  • Enter and process checks/credit card transactions in Tessitura, our customer relationship management software
  • Deposit checks in Bank of America Cashpro
  • Scanning batch copies and distribute to departments as needed
  • Update daily attendance workbook for The Tech Interactive with data exports from Tessitura
  • Other duties as assigned


Key Weekly Responsibilities:

  • Approve Concur Expense reports (employee reimbursements) for payment
  • Pay Concur Expense reports
  • Prepare armed guard cash deposit pickup


Key Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Upload monthly Concur credit card activity to Google Accounting Drive
  • Upload Concur expense report activity to Google Accounting Drive


Key Annual Responsibilities:

  • Assist Accounting manager in the preparation of audit and tax work schedules and support audit and tax return requests


As needed:

  • Manage corporate credit cards
  • Assist with special projects as requested by management.
  • Initiate wire transfers via Bank of America Cashpro.


Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, business, economics or related field is preferred; 2 years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Working knowledge of non-profit accounting practices and GAAP preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong organization skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact across all levels of management and interface with vendors in a clear and professional manner
  • Proficient in Excel, 10-key by touch, Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
  • Knowledge of Concur Expense, Tessitura or Bank of America Cashpro knowledge a plus
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; capability of effective planning and priority setting; ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a work environment using proper judgment, problems solving skills and conflict resolution methods to make decisions.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and make sound independent decisions.
  • Must be available to work onsite.
