NEW HIGHER PAY: $50,357 – $88,125
The Challenge
We are hiring an experienced accountant to join our Financial Management team.
In this role, you will:
    • Reconcile, record, and establish all accounting entries in the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)and NCDOT’s systems for the GARVEE (Grants Anticipation Revenue Vehicle) bond program and the Build NC bond program.
    • Prepare information to requisition Trustees for weekly cost reimbursements and ensure timely debt service payments are made.
    • Monitor our GARVEE and overdraft dashboards and ensure procedures compliance.
    • Help monitor Federal Project closings.
    • Handle special projects and reporting required by FHWA, NCDOT Secretary, COO, and Legislative requests.
What You Bring
    • Experience interpreting and applying complex Federal/State fiscal regulations.
    • Working experience analyzing financial data to review, process, and correct accounting entries and adjustments in our accounting system and procedures.
    • Teamwork skills to establish effective working relationships with business/program personnel and supervise the work of junior accounting staff.
    • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    • Considerable knowledge of government accounting methods/procedures and financial practices.
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel) and a good understanding of information systems.
    • Skills to coordinate with IT staff and end users to solve problems impeding/delaying the functionality of our SAP R/3 system.
Education & Experience
    • Bachelors degree in accounting, or a Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or  related discipline, and 18 semester hours of accounting, and
    • 4+ years of accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive/analytical accounting/financial statements and reports; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
