Position Title:  Accountant

Classification:  Non- Exempt

Reports to:  Director of Finance or CFO

Location:  3655 Calvert St., NW

Developed by:  CFO, Director of Finance, Accountant

Type:   Mid Level Accounting Proficiency

Work Hours: Monday- Friday Flexible hours

Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000

Our programs are person-centric and individualized to meet the needs and goals of individuals, families, youth/young adults and Veterans experiencing homelessness. We provide outreach, hospitality, health care, case management, housing, job placement services, and advocacy.

Position Objective

To perform required day to day accounting duties and other tasks supporting the needs of the Finance department.

Essential Job Duties

· Reviews and processes check requests (Daily)

· Records all accounting transactions within accounting software, charging expenses to associated cost centers

· Prepares journal entries as necessary

· Prepares invoices documenting expenses related to government contracts (Monthly)

· Reviews employee’s company credit card receipts and inputs into accounting software (Monthly)

· Conducts research and analysis of accounting data and accounting processes as needed

· Creates reports, enters data and performs ad hoc analyses for financial purposes as needed

· Maintains financial security by adhering to internal control and written operating policy

· Maintains confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential

· Prepares and files forms 1099 MISC with the IRS (Annually)

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

· Performs other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office functions with an intermediate to advanced emphasis on Excel

· Strong communication skills.

· At least two years of full time accounting experience (accounts payable and/or accounts receivable)

· Familiarity with at least one accounting software application, preferably Netsuite

Other Details

  • Application Deadline: This job is open until filled, or the hiring manager determines that they can no longer accept applications.
  • Compensation: The hiring pay range is between $45,000-$55,000 annually.  Depending on the position, the starting hourly pay rate or annual salary is based on a step system.  A candidate’s starting pay determination is made based on meeting the basic position requirements, and current completed education, credentials and/or work experience.  Please Note: The step system is set and not open to pay negotiation.  Before moving forward in the selection process, interested applicants are encouraged to discuss starting pay eligibility with the Human Resources (Talent) Department.
