Essential Functions and Objectives:

 

Administers and manages activities within a specific area of a responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes. 

 

Teaches diverse adults and post secondary education option students (PSEO) assigned subject matter to, following district standards-based curriculum and helping all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understandings. 

 

– Team teaches with other instructors and coordinates student learning activities.

– Maintains program compliance with program approval.

– Markets program to agencies, businesses and students.

– Maintains appropriate inventory for all program equipment, materials and supplies.

– Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.

– Monitors, supervises, coordinates and enforces rule of conduct and behavior assigned students; and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy; observes, evaluates, reports and records students’ performance, behavior, social development and physical health.

– Prepares lesson plans and materials according to curriculum guidelines and adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

– Instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions); establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units and projects to students.

– Prepares, administers, assigns and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District and Emily Griffith Opportunity School software; prepares student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.

– Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors and administrators to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems. 

 

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

 

– Five (5) years wage earning experience in related occupation within the preceding ten years.

– Current Colorado Department of Education Teachers License; Must possess or have the ability to acquire a Colorado Credential for Career and Technical Education; Must possess appropriate industry certification and licensure.

– Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook and Google Suite.

– Effective time management and organizational skills.

– Effective communication skills.

– Strong attention to detail.

– Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

– The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.

– Work collaboratively with others on a team.

– Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.

– Broad knowledge of techniques and practices used for related industry.

– Ability to manage the classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities.

– Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.

– Demonstrated respect for students.   

 

Education Requirements:

 

– Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.

– Must meet the CTE credentialing requirements of the Colorado Community College System Office. This includes having 4,000 documented paid hours of industry experience within the last 7 years (or 5 if in healthcare) in the program field where they’ll be teaching and appropriate industry licensure, certificates, or technical training, OR 2,000 documented paid hours of industry experience and a Bachelor’s degree with appropriate industry licensure, certificates, or technical training in the program field where they’ll be teaching. Exceptions to these criteria are considered per the guidelines of the CCCS credentialing requirements.
