Essential Functions and Objectives:

The shared CareerConnect and Emily Griffith Technical College (EGTC) program coordinator will provide programmatic oversight for key work streams stemming from a growing partnership between DPS CareerConnect and EGTC.Including but not limited to creating and implementing new course and credentialing options for high school students, progress monitoring and improving existing EGTC/DPS program offerings, and developing prior learning assessments in partnership with EGTC and DPS’ work-based learning programs.

Researches, strategizes and defines program architecture, projects, priorities, activities and operational procedures to continually draw incremental benefits of the program, in alignment with governance requirements and the overall program goals and objectives. Remains knowledgeable of, plans for, communicates and coordinates regulatory compliance activities with school and other support services departments.

Directs, administers, and evaluates program operations, policies and procedures relevant to the lifecycle of the program; ensures effectiveness and demonstrates outcomes beyond program establishment. Coordinates and tracks program expenditures and adjusts project activities, specifications, proposals, contracts and schedules to meet overall program objectives within budget.

Sets and monitors new program priorities, including: objectives, benefits, key deliverables and resources. Manages long and short term work plans and schedules to track progress; ensures milestone are attained; identifies, analyzes and mitigates project risks, solving for project ‘road blocks’; assesses outcomes and lessons learned; provides timely and accurate project deliverables.

Establishes and cultivates relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; develops comprehensive communications strategies conveying information to ensure appropriate input and agreement to key decisions and program direction. Leads change initiatives; works closely with and influences project team members, provides mentorship and catalyzes strong collaboration among all resources involved.

– Identifying opportunities for DPS high school students across the district to take EGTC courses onsite and in their home schools; Identifying opportunities for EGTC to play a greater role in training for CareerConnect youth apprenticeships, offered in partnership with CareerWise Colorado.

– Works closely with state- and city-level partners, including but not limited to CareerWise Colorado, the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the Colorado Department of Education, the Colorado Workforce Development Council, the Colorado Community College System, etc..

– Crosswalk apprenticeship competencies to EGTC coursework (using Colorado Common Course Numbering system) to identify additional opportunities to accrue college credit; Crosswalk EGTC curriculum to academic competencies/credit fulfilling DPS high school graduation requirements.

– Working with the Denver Education Attainment Network (DEAN) and other higher education partners on the Auraria campus to maximize transferability of CareerConnect/EGTC pathways courses; in the future, broaden focus to other statewide higher education partners.

– Collaborate w/ key DPS partners to improve student achievement & maximize opportunities for competency-based credit attainment; Liaises w/ CareerConnect & EGTC to drive the project forward, keep all informed, & seek input when needed.

– Participates in district professional development to expand professional learning.

– Attends meetings, as needed, to represent the CareerConnect and/or EGTC.

– Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required.

– Works with DPS CareerConnect to provide staff professional development opportunities aligned with the creation of new programs together.

– Stays informed of current best practices in the areas of career pathways, credentialing and credit articulation, youth apprenticeship training, etc..

– Provides regular updates to senior leadership about work stream progress and seeks clarity on prioritization.

– Provides options for meeting various shared goals by adding various levels of resource (including staff or consulting hours) to the project.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

– 5+ years of experience in Curriculum Design; higher education experience; K-12 experience.

– Knowledge of program management best practices.

– Experience working with school based teams or leading professional development programs with schools.

– Experience working in post-secondary field with a particular focus on curriculum creation and/or industry credentials/CTE.
– Knowledge of social-emotional intelligence curricula, behavior intervention, and/or multi-tiered systems of support, trauma informed care and implementation processes.

– Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

– Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals, establish priorities, and organize resources.
– Ability to multi-task without compromising integrity or fidelity.

– Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products and/or Project Management Software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).

– Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

– Inspired, visionary who can foster/generate excitement, buy-in and understanding with colleagues and employees outside of the team.

– High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

– Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.

– Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work with individuals at all different levels in the organization.

– Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.

Education Requirements:

– Bachelors or relevant work experience required.

– Master’s Degree preferred.
