Essential Functions and Objectives:
Administers and manages activities within a specific area of a responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes.
Responsible for building district and school capacity in Innovation and Improvement through providing professional development and coaching on Equity Centered Design Thinking and Improvement Science. Design and lead innovation and improvement projects and studies with schools and departments to address priority challenges identified in district strategies, particularly focused on the elimination of opportunity gaps.
– Day to day execution: provides various support and conducts activities related to logistics, reporting, training, communications, and processes. Participates in the planning and implementation of new initiative.
– Problem solving: assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies expert understanding to resolve complex challenges of stakeholders; focuses on root cause identification in order to achieve systemic and sustainable improvement. Approves and documents exceptions for compliance record keeping and reporting.
– Collaboration: ensures appropriate key stakeholder involvement in planning, goal-setting, and implementation to achieve buy-in of work products. Ensures purposeful, positive and professional interactions and relationships with all stakeholders; enables consistent application of work products across the district.
– Continuous improvement: identifies opportunities for improvement, prioritizes, and recommends solutions to management. Implements approved enhancements to ensure consistency across the district. identifies opportunities to reduce costs; analyzes available data, trends, and feedback, and ensures compliance with expectations for optimal operation and goal achievement.
– Work with district, regional and school leaders to identify high leverage academic and whole child problems whose solutions would significantly enhance performance, deliver results, achieve school and district prioritized outcomes, and contribute to improving student success district-wide.
– Identify, adapt, and apply appropriate tools from design thinking and improvement sciences, including, but not limited to landscape analyses, user interviews, driver diagrams; plan-to-do-study-act cycles for rapid prototyping and testing of change ideas.
– Provide on-site coaching and support to district, regional and school leaders on effective implementation of innovation and improvement science and support development of their structural and cultural capacities to integrate innovation and improvement science in their organizations.
-Partner with district and school leaders and the department of research and evaluation to design methods of collecting evidence specific to unique change ideas, including voice and experience of students and community; interpret and explain results to stakeholders to inform decision making.
– Design and facilitate professional learning experiences on equity-centered design and Improvement Science theory and methods to central and school-based teams through a variety of approaches including large-scale convening, team trainings, capability-building courses, and virtual sessions.
– Work with district, regional and school leaders to establish systems of quality control and accountability for innovation and improvement science outcomes that are integrated with other goals and progress monitoring structures.
– Collaborate with district and school-based innovation and improvement teams to document promising practices and support the scaling of initiatives and programs that emerge from innovation and improvement work.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
– 5+ years of experience in Improvement Sciences, Education, Adult Learning, or Project Management preferred.
– Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
– Effective time management and organizational skills.
– Effective communication skills.
– Strong attention to detail.
– Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
– The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
– Work collaboratively with others on a team.
– Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment.
– Ability to effectively design professional learning and facilitate small and large groups of adult learners based on adult learning best practices.
– Deep knowledge of best practices in innovation, equity-centered design and improvement sciences.
– Experience and knowledge of best practices for driving and monitoring improvement strategy in an education setting.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Improvement Sciences or related field required
