Who we are

We are the Air Operations Center (AOC) Weapon System (WS) 10.1 Program Management Office (PMO).  We engineer, integrate, test, field, and maintain an evolving weapon system comprised of approximately 100 major subsystems consisting of a variety of commercial off the shelf and government communications and electronics equipment.  The AOC WS provides command and control capabilities for joint and combined forces at AOC locations across the globe.  We support warfighters that need access to information and capability today.

The Position

We are looking for a versatile and hard-working program manager to support the AOC WS 10.1 Program Management (PM) Team leading over 300 people consisting of over 12 Functional Areas.  The 10.1 PM Team itself consists of the 10.1 Program Manager, two Deputy Program Managers, and several EPASS contractor PMs who orchestrate the efficient operations of the AOC WS 10.1 PMO, its teams, and all of its functions.

What You Will Do

  • You will execute tasks assigned by 10.1 Program Manager and Deputy Program Managers in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ever-changing task backlog
  • You will work directly with the 10.1 Program Manager and Deputy Program Managers to ensure clear and constant communications about the status of teams, the progress of their work, and any potential or realized issues
  • You will work closely and communicate with the EPASS PM Team and Government Functional Area Leads to provide Government direction, decisions, and vectors, facilitate and maintain progress, and remove blockers
  • You will ensure Government Functional Area Leads are accomplishing their responsibilities and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner with appropriate quality meeting 10.1 Program Manager and Deputy Program Managers’ expectations
  • You will provide and execute solutions to best achieve product line and portfolio goals
  • You will communicate the vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog to different audiences with a tailored message
  • Any other duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • You understand the Department of Defense Instruction 5000 series
  • You understand the Department of Defense and US Air Force relationships
  • You have experience managing acquisition and contracting strategy

  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to the audience
  • You are comfortable providing advice, recommendations, and guidance with incomplete information

  • You are able to articulate the importance of focusing on outcomes over outputs from strategy to implementation
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to incorporate multiple perspectives
  • You are an expert facilitator; guiding difficult conversations to productive outcomes
  • You excel at facilitating collaboration and ensuring expected outcomes are met
  • You are able to break down complex problems into small measurable parts
  • You are a change agent that inspires a project team to achieve “creative compliance” within the DoD Acquisition Process
  • You are able to travel if needed
  • You are a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain at a minimum a Secret-level U.S. Security Clearance.

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-13 up to mid GS-14 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $79,468 to $103,309 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $102,601 to $133,382.
