We are seeking a Rail Technician to join our Rail Operations Team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer.  This team is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, loading and unloading of rail cars in a petrochemical plant environment.

 

You Will Use your Expertise To:

  • Ensure timely delivery of NOVA products through prompt loading and unloading of rail cars.
  • Meet schedules and timelines to ensure business needs are met.
  • Shunt, haul, deliver, check, inspect and weigh rail cars.
  • Provide ownership of rail yards and rail loading/unloading equipment. Monitor performance of equipment and initiate work orders to maintain equipment.
  • Operate and monitor locomotives and perform switchperson duties.
  • Maintain accurate reports and enter production data.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior rail yard operations and/or railcar loading/unloading experience
  • A Passion for Responsible Care performance excellence and alignment with NOVA’s values and culture
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and SAP applications is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motived and demonstrate strong people and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with and support a team culture
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands in a logical organized manner
  • A self-starter, who is resourceful and has demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting ability

Additional Information:

  • The candidate will be expected to advance to Level 4 in the Rail Progression through self-motivation and company-based support and training
  • This position requires lifting, climbing and extensive time spent walking during each shift
  • This position works year-round both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • This role is a shift work role (24/7) supporting petrochemicals plant operations
