Corporate Services offers a challenging and stimulating variety of work in both delivery and support teams. The function utilises the expertise of eight specialisms that collectively enable the operational day-to-day running of the business to ensure that DE&S/SDA delivers its objectives and maintains compliance with the requirements of being part of a Department of State. We cover: Business Support; Comms, Media & Marketing; Infrastructure & Estate Management; Policy Profession; Sales & Disposals; Occupational Health, Safety & Environment; Quality Management; and Security.

Defence Munitions receive, store, maintain and issue a wide range of munitions that used by the UK armed forces to train, protect and serve anywhere in the world. Our Defence Munitions staff work closely with DE&S project teams and front-line commands in order to ensure our troops have the right items at the right time. We work as an important part of the wider MoD establishment that supports, procures and supplies our troops, providing them with a range of munitions including high-calibre ammunition and guided or targeted weapons.

Responsibilities

You shall be an innovative and resourceful individual with the ability to prioritise work in an ever-changing environment, paying high attention to detail. Working within a team and liaising with different stakeholders including Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) and Ministry Guard Service (MGS), you will be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.

The Establishment Security Officer (ESyO) is responsible for all aspects of security at DM Gosport,
– Involved with the management of cryptographic items
– Performance monitoring of all Guarding and Security Statement (GSSOR) requirements
– Maintenance of local security orders
– Management of building keys and building access
– Maintaining a close liaison between internal departments and external agencies
– Conducting local security exercises
– Investigating discrepancy reports
– Processing security clearances for staff, lodgers and contractors including maintaining the cleared contractors and lodger list
– Recording, mustering, destruction and despatch of classified books, documents and media.
– Management of the DM Gosport family trees and security advice bulletins
– The ESyO also provides assistance in managing the Material Accounts function and is the Administrator for the Defence Munitions Gosport SharePoint pages.
– Management of a small team
– Other General Manager’s team activities/responsibilities to support additional site outputs
– Conduct strategic analysis at the appropriate level, extracting insights to provide an informed opinion on security risks and the adequacy of controls in place.
– Advising to the appropriate organisational level on how to deliver proportional, practical security outcomes, within the parameters set by relevant regulation, policy and procedures. Advise on any residual risk.
– Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the Security processes at the appropriate organisational level and make recommendations for continual improvement.
– Maintain awareness of current and emerging policies and their impact on existing security practices

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• A previous background in security consultancy or Security Management
• Good experience with Sharepoint or similar
• Previous experience of people management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
