Job description

DE&S are looking for an Electronic and Radar Technician for an exciting opportunity based at RAF Henlow.

This post is within the Air Defence and Electronic Warfare Systems (ADEWS) Engineering Delivery Team. Based at RAF Henlow in Central Bedfordshire, ADEWS is responsible for a variety of projects and in-service support providing air defence radar, radios, antennas, radomes, and specialist electronic warfare facilities.

Candidates should be aware that under the Defence Estate Optimisation Strategy, RAF Henlow has been identified as a site for release. Further information will be made available as it becomes available.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities and duties will include:

• Writing of technical reports and assessments for air defence radars. Including testing and certification of air defence radars ensuring their compliance with current safety standards and specifications.
• Researching methodologies and technologies to ensure operational capabilities and performance to evaluate radars
• Analysis of test, trials and commissioning data. (Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications an advantage).
• Production of technical reports on performance and safety standards of air defence radars.
• Provision of advice on specifications & requirements for procurement of air defence radar equipment.
• Evaluation of new methods and equipment.
• Liaison with other MOD departments, RAF units and Industry to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Provision of technical advice and on-site assistance to air defence radar units.

Occasional over-seas travel will be included in this post.

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Full UK driving licence
• HND/HNC minimum qualification (or level 4 equivalent) or sufficient relevant experience

• Military knowledge and experience is advantageous
