DE&S has excellent opportunities for Systems Engineers and Asset Management professionals to join their Internal Technical Support (ITS) consultancy team, working closely with clients across a range of delivery teams, helping solve some of the most complex problems in defence.

Building upon our success over the last four years, ITS continues to meet client demands. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work across the entire project life-cycle, with your work proving instrumental in helping clients translate military customer needs into clear technical and contractual requirements. You will oversee delivery, develop robust acceptance plans, and solve in-service problems.

Over four years, ITS has provided support across a range of projects, including the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Mine Warfare, Maritime Command and Control, Submarines, Typhoon Fast Jets, Tactical Data Links, Guided Weapons, Multi-Role Vehicle – Protected (MRV-P), Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicles and Air Defence Systems.

Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with colleagues to deliver and support our military capabilities, working alongside delivery teams to support routine activities and respond creatively to emerging challenges. You will develop a range of System Engineering products, including requirements documents, integrated test and evaluation plans, system and capability architectures, asset life-cycle models, asset management plans and policies, and engineering management plans. You will ensure that these products meet your client’s needs, addressing the unique situation each project faces.

You will drive some of the most complex and critical programmes in the UK forward, making a real difference to lives in the UK and abroad, and advancing state of the art Systems Engineering. You will think across technical and professional disciplines, understanding the legal, commercial and technical implications of different options, explaining complex issues in a simple and compelling way to clients. You will manage the delivery of large and complex portfolios of consultancy tasks to client satisfaction, cost and time. You will build rapport and trust, understand customer needs, quote for work and deliver it with pace and with impact.

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Stakeholder management experience
• Holds a minimum of Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) in relevant Science or Engineering OR equivalent relevant experience
• Engineering experience and responsibility for a large work package within the supply chain of a safety-critical industry
• Leading multidisciplinary teams and understanding the inter-dependencies and interrelationships between systems.

• Technical consultancy experience from within a regulated environment.
