Position: Finance and Payroll Supervisor 

Hours: Full-time

Location: North Hollywood, CA

Organizational Overview: Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people in need and inspiring others to do the same. Our produce is recovered mostly in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties but reaches those in need in eight Southern California counties via distribution by hundreds of hunger relief agencies across virtually all social service sectors: homeless outreach, domestic violence shelters, street youth homes, veteran services, LGBT teen/adult/senior services, after-school programs, the mentally disabled, low-income college programs, and many more. With the volunteer-power of over 7,000 registered volunteers and a modest staff, we will help feed over 1.75 million Southern Californians in need this year alone. *See our core values posted below.

Position Overview: The Finance and Payroll  Supervisor reports to the Finance & HR Director.  The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to prioritize various accounting, finance, and payroll tasks while paying strict attention to details and deadlines.  The individual will work cross-departmentally providing guidance and support to all staff in finance and payroll related areas while exercising sound judgment and discretion and maintaining confidentiality. The individual must be passionate about food justice and encompasses Food Forward core values.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle bookkeeping from data entry to reports generation and analysis 
  • Expensify admin – monthly expenses and reimbursements tracking and reporting
  • All aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports  (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow & Programmatic P&L’s) in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist Finance and HR Director with the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and assess any changes necessary.
  • Support Finance and HR Director with the annual budgeting and planning process
  • Update and implement accounting and finance protocols
  • Gusto admin – payroll and employee benefits processing and reporting
  • Manage staff onboarding /exit process from start to finish
  • Administrative duties as needed

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience and knowledge of QuickBooks
  • 1+ year of financial reporting experience
  • Familiar with Gusto or other payroll processing platform
  • Familiar with Expensify or other credit card, expenses, and reimbursement tracking platform
  • Intermediate experience using Office, especially Excel, and G Suite
  • Able to lift 25lbs

Hours: Full Time, non-exempt position

Compensation: $19-$21 an hour, d.o.e.
