Part-Time Chateau Near Bordeaux France Seeks Energetic Full Time Live-In Caretaker / Rental Manager – Single or Couple
Job Description
This is a terrific opportunity in the beautiful Bordeaux wine country for an energetic, competent and discreet caretaker and rental administrator individual or couple with a love of nature and passion for hospitality and service. The chateau, owned by a gay couple with two boys who have a principal home elsewhere, has been completely restored with taste and a focus on comfort. It’s located 35 KM east of Bordeaux, which is easily accessible via car or via train, with a train station 7 KM from the chateau
The right candidate(s) will be active, discreet, flexible and service oriented / with a passion for service, gardening and hospitality/ all around skilled maintenance provider(s) / capable of handling simple construction work and interior household cleaning and maintenance (with help on cleaning and room prep during busy or significant rental periods) / and rental lead (welcoming of guests, driving of guests to and from train station, providing for guest other needs) who will help get rental business going at the chateau. If a couple, one will expected to be lead housekeeper, doing the laundry, making up guest rooms etc and some family style cooking when the chateau owners and their children are in residence. The other half of the couple will be doing the gardening and will be a good all rounder with a love of gardening, and competency for looking after the swimming pool, keeping outlying forest lands in good stead and doing errands and providing other ser ices as required. The ideal candidate would have a love of animals and be capable of adding Alpacas to the property to keep fields and forests clean. You will need to be a driver for this role, and it would be helpful if both members of the couple (if a couple) could also drive.
Candidate Requirements: It would be ideal if you have worked in hospitality or as a domestic caretaker/ couple in a comparable role for at least 3 years with a good work record and checkable references. The right candidate will be professional, flexible and highly accommodating, welcoming in presentation, organized, energetic and focused on the comfort of the owners, invited guests and clients.
Days / Hours of Work, Accommodation and Salary: Your accommodation is a chic, completely renovated, fully furnished studio that is fully equipped and nicely separated from the rest of the chateau and that is provided without cost along with access to the Chateau gym.
Salary will depend on the precise services agreed to be provided and hours of work agreed. A percentage of rental income on successful rentals is possible, according to discussion with the proprietor, who wants you well motivated to drive successful rentals at the chateau.
