Full-Time Accounting Supervisor

ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

The following are the key responsibilities for the position:

Supervisory Duties
• Assisting in the oversight of the Finance department by reviewing completed work, providing feedback, and acting as a backup in the Controller’s absence
• Assisting with A/P coding and answering any related questions posed by other departments
• Answering questions from the A/P and A/R Clerk and acting as a backup as required
• Responsible for analyzing affiliated companies trial balance for discrepancies and trends; rectifying any issues
• Responsible for savings account reconciliation for affiliated companies
• Contributing to process improvement discussions

Accounts Payable Duties
• Calculating and tracking prepaid licensing/insurance and reconciling with automatic withdrawal for affiliated companies
• Issuing cheques for owner signature and disbursing based on cash flow requirements for affiliated companies
• Remitting and submitting HST payments quarterly for affiliated companies
• Responsible for completing journal entries
• Responsible for reviewing Visa statements and broker reconciliation for affiliated companies
• Preparing, reporting, and paying WSIB and IFTA dues for affiliated companies
• Assisting with coding invoices, as required

Accounts Receivable Duties
• Responsible for completing journal entries and reviewing broker reconciliation for affiliated companies

Payroll Duties
• Reviewing bi-weekly payroll for affiliated companies
• Calculating, reconciling, and submitting EHT remittance and reviewing source deductions for affiliated companies
• Reconciling and issuing ROE’s and T4’s
• Reviewing equipment depreciation calculation/entry and employee absenteeism trackers
• Answering payroll related questions and acting as a backup in the Payroll Clerk’s absence
• Creating and overseeing tracking sheet for various payroll issues

Administrative Duties
• Creating new or rehire packages for employees and facilitating deadlines for paperwork and training for affiliated companies
• Developing and maintaining an efficient record management system both for all electronic drawing files, paper correspondence
• Overseeing insurance administration and assisting with WSIB claims
• Updating QB software/terminal server and assisting with IT issues, as required
• Creating and maintaining a weekly in-office schedule for Finance team

Required Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance & accounting
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressive roles within accounting and a minimum of 1 to 2 years in a supervisory capacity
• A strong knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and reporting requirements
• Must be proficient with financial accounting software and have advance excel skills

• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, resourcefulness, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to possess a high level of professionalism and integrity while maintaining confidential information
