Part-Time Fiscal Specialist 1 – Sponsored Programs

Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a 75% part-time, permanent classified Fiscal Specialist 1. This position is responsible to coordinating services and financial resources for students who receive educational funding from outside agency partners. The schedule for this position is 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide exemplary service to students and agency partners both over the phone and in person.
• Process agency contracts and authorization for student sponsorship for tuition, books and supplies.
• Coordinate payment for special purchases.
• Understand agency policies and procedures and ensure that these policies are adhered to.
• Reconcile student tuition reimbursements, adjustments and cancellations.
• Ensure proper tuition holds are placed on student accounts.
• Manual invoicing for 529 plans from other states.
• Assist students in navigating college policies and procedures and provide appropriate resources to help ensure student success.
• Work closely with internal departments to ensure the students authorizations are processed timely and accurately.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements and Competencies:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
• Education and Experience: Associate’s degree OR two years of professional office related experience. Accounting experience in a governmental agency is preferred.
• Computer Skills: experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and specialized database systems.
• Communication Skills: excellent communication skills in interpersonal, written, and group settings.
• Collaboration: ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Time Management: uses time and resources to complete work in a timely and accurate manner.

Preferred Requirements and Competencies:
• Experience with a complex, automated financial management system.
• Knowledge of: accounting theory and practice and generally accepted accounting principles.

Job Readiness/Working Conditions:
• Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
• Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
• The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
• This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
• Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

Salary/Benefits:
Starting Salary: $2,168/month (75% of $2,891) Range: 39 Code: 151E
Benefits package includes insurance, retirement, annual and sick leave, disability, flexible spending account, and tuition waiver.
