Full-Time Intermediate Frontend Developer

Job Description

Plank is hiring a full-time Intermediate Frontend Developer.

You will be part of a close-knit team that works very closely with our clients to deliver great solutions. You’ll be working on multiple modern websites with sizeable budgets and realistic timelines, using an agile-like methodology. You would work within a multidisciplinary group (Design, Frontend, Backend and Project Management) where teamwork and collaboration is encouraged at every step. You’ll be able to make a measurable impact on the types of work we do. 

 

You will be:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining HTML/CSS and Javascript (React, Next.js). We produce both modern sites and maintain legacy projects, you will have the opportunity to use a variety of technologies
  • Contributing to an evolving team in a meaningful way. We’re a small, growing company and are looking for someone who wants to get involved
  • Proposing solutions to novel problems. The web is constantly changing and we are always pushing to improve ourselves — your ideas concerning the best way to do this are welcome
  • Performing code reviews, learning and helping to improve both the projects and team. We value collaboration and know that we work better when we work together
  • Analyzing project requirements, working closely with the designers, and translating their designs into project specifications
  • Creating projects that reach high standards of accessibility, performance and SEO
  • Working on high profile projects for Arts, Entertainment, Technology and Social Change clients

You must

  • Have at least 2 years experience working in Frontend Web Development 
  • Be proficient in modern React, creating self-contained, reusable, and testable Modules and Components 
  • Experience working with NEXT.js + headless CMS a bonus
  • Demonstrate strong use of modern CSS techniques (you have an “eye” and care about the finer details)
  • Be able to write clear,  semantically correct, accessible code that meets WCAG guidelines & demonstrates empathy for all users 
  • Create performant sites that reach minimum of 90% on Google Web Dev (Lighthouse) and be able to troubleshoot UI performance issues
  • Experience & knowledge with build tooling such as Webpack & Gulp an asset
  • Have an understanding of Git workflows
  • Familiarity with WordPress and/or Laravel is a bonus
  • Have a strong sense of curiosity, a desire to learn new information, and be driven to find solutions as well as share knowledge & expertise
  • Have an understanding of scope and budget, and how to take this into account when architecting solutions
  • Have a good understanding of best practices, while striving to improve and adapt as technology evolves
  • Be able to deliver near pixel perfect designs and extrapolate for “in between” sizes based on design patterns
  • Have a collaborative working style, with the desire to help other team members grow and improve through code review, pairing, and mentoring.
  • Able to clearly communicate to technical and non-technical audiences in English (French would be an asset) 
  • Have solid references directly related to the points above

Job Type: Full-time / Immediate start date

Salary Range: 50-60k per year + Profit sharing / bonuses
