Full-Time Media Technician Lead

Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Media Technician Lead.  This position is responsible for providing a wide range of hands-on technical assistance in the operation of multimedia and distance education equipment, including resolving connectivity issues, troubleshooting audio/video equipment, computing devices and working with faculty to create multimedia based instructional material.  This position will be involved in supporting large campus events. This individual provides customer service to diverse groups including students, faculty, vendors and the general public with different levels of technology skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the production and delivery of synchronous and asynchronous multimedia content including screen casting, studio lecture capture, and streaming media services.
  • Technical A/V support for large college events with an emphasis on live sound.
  • Suggest technology or content ideas to help users achieve desired outcomes for a video or audio project.
  • Support other areas of student technology, including the supervision of staff as needed.
  • Record, produce, and process multimedia for online delivery from cloud content distribution network.
  • Perform standard equipment setup including computers, projectors and other multimedia equipment.
  • Work with a wide array of software products to assist in the creation of on-line instructional material.
  • Maintain equipment such as laptops, cameras, projectors and presentation systems as appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • Provide technical support to diverse client groups.

 

Position Requirements and Competencies:

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a computer or media related field OR two years of experience in media production. Examples of media related fields can include media services, multi-media computer applications, web streaming, and live sound mixing.
  • Must possess knowledge of current computer hardware, operating systems, client/server and network technologies. The mentioned qualifications could be demonstrated by possessing one or more of the following certifications:
    • A+
    • Net+
    • Microsoft related
    • CTS
    • Extron, Crestron, AMX related certifications
    • Polycom or Cisco certifications for videoconferencing
  • Experience supporting events of five hundred people or larger.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience setting up and running audio equipment used in large events.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Digital media, such as EDID-HDCP, AV over IP, Dante.
  • Extron, Crestron, AMX related automation technology experience.
  • Experience with modern classroom technology and troubleshooting problems in an instructional environment.
  • Knowledge of video production-based software applications.
  • Familiar with equipment used in video technology and audio as it relates to (HD) video production.
  • Experience with Project Management practices.

 

Job Readiness/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • Possess reliable means of personal transportation and the ability and willingness to travel to remote locations.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Must be able to work weekends and be flexible with their work schedule.

Salary/Benefits: 

Starting Salary: $3,067/month             Range:              39                    Code:  203G
