PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

Traditional 235 work days

FTE: 1.0

Salary Range: $95,462 – $119,327

Essential Functions and Objectives:

 

Leads the authorizing and accountability processes for the District, including the vision, strategy, and execution of the work. Leads new school authorization, the approval of new innovation schools, and charter and innovation school (and zone) renewals.

 

– Oversees and directs the development of recommendations for District leadership and the Board of Education on authorizing topics such as new school applications, new innovation school and zones applications, and whether to revoke charter school contracts or innovation status.

– Oversees and directs the development of recommendations for leadership and the Board regarding school improvement strategies for schools that need additional support as identified under the School Performance Compact (SPC).

– Leads a team in ensuring the resolution of critical issues related to academic, financial, governance or operational issues of 60+ charter schools and 10+ Innovation Zone schools, including meeting and collaborating with legal teams; oversees a team of managers who collect evidence and develop reports and recommendations for District leadership and the Board regarding new schools, school accountability, and school change efforts.

– Engages with a variety of internal stakeholders, including charter leaders and other District divisions, to foster collaboration and problem-solve key issues.

– Represents the interests of the District and team across external stakeholders, including the State Board of Education, other authorizers and school applicants.

– Establishes, maintains and communicates clear alignment between District accountability processes to ensure governance-type and model-neutrality, including supporting the development of stakeholder investment in recommendations to District leadership and Board.

 

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

 

– Five (5) or more years of teaching and/or school leadership experience strongly preferred.

– Experience operating in a K-12 environment.

– Three (3) or more years of management responsibility.

– Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

– Experience in analyzing data, and using this data for process and program improvements and to inform strategy.

– Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, including ability to inspire others.

– Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.

– Superior leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.

– Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.

 

Education Requirements:

 

– Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences or related field required.

– Master’s Degree in Policy Development preferred.
