The Challenge
We are looking for 2 Entry-Level Engineering Technicians to perform roadway/structure inspections and assist survey parties on our Sanford Resident Engineer team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Use a sledge hammer to drive stakes and ax to cut brush.
    • Perform soil and aggregates density tests requiring digging, weighing, and measuring volumes.
    • Perform concrete tests requiring lifting buckets of concrete.
    • Collect tickets for material delivered to projects, collect samples of construction materials, and write information on sample cards.
    • Perform minor calculations for survey notes and estimates.
 
Notes
    • You may be required to work at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays to fulfill inspection and surveying needs.
    • You may be subject to outside conditions including noise and hazards from vehicles and construction machinery.  
    • Safety shoes are required.
 
What You Bring
    • Knowledge of survey crew techniques, duties, and responsibilities.
    • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
    • Knowledge of standards/specifications and plan reading experience.
    • Basic computer skills using a laptop, iPad, and software.
    • Understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and /or construction surveying.
    • Experience using a sledge hammer to drive stakes and an ax to cut bushes.
    • Good work ethic and interest in learning engineering principles, best practices and safety.
 
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related field; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
